GNFB Food Package Program
Guru Nanak Food Bank is a lifeline for those facing food insecurity in Surrey and Delta. Families, couples, and individuals struggling to afford groceries due to rising living costs find support here. From registration to distribution, our process ensures dignified access to essential food packages.
To become a recipient, follow these steps:
- - Register on our mobile app (iOS/Android) or website.
- - Book your first appointment, indicating it's your first time.
- - Bring the required documents to your appointment: proof of employment income (if employed), proof of financial support other than the employer, rental proof, government picture ID, and health cards for all dependents.
- - Pick up your food.
Book regular appointments through the GNFB app or website thereafter, ensuring continuous support.

Welcome to Canada Program.
Guru Nanak Food Bank extends a warm welcome to international students new to Canada. Our program provides vital comfort items—mattress pad, bed sheet, pillow, pillow cover, blanket, and a few simple toiletries.
To register, follow the same process as for our food packages:
- - Register on our mobile app (iOS/Android) or website.
- - Book your first appointment, selecting the option for new registrants and additionally the Welcome to Canada Program.
- - Bring the necessary documents to your appointment: student ID, passport, student permit, copy of landing date.
- - Collect your Welcome Kit.
Further appointments can be booked via the GNFB app or website. Welcome to a supportive community and a comfortable start in Canada.

At the Guru Nanak Food Bank, we aim to make accessing food support simple and organized. Here’s how the process works:
- Register First: All new clients must register through our mobile app (iOS/Android) or website before receiving any food support.
- Pick Up Your Food: Food package can only be collected during your appointment date & time. Please arrive on time, as walk-ins are not accepted.
- Updates: All clients must update their registration every six months.
- Missed Pick-Ups: If you miss your scheduled appointment, you must reschedule a new appointment to collect your food. Walk-ins are not permitted.
To access services at Guru Nanak Food Bank, all clients must complete a one-time registration by appointment only. Walk-ins are not accepted, as appointments help us serve everyone efficiently and fairly.
Please book your registration appointment in advance through our website or mobile app.
During your appointment, original physical documents are required. Photocopies will not be accepted. Please review the required documents below before attending your appointment.
Needed Documents
Government-Issued Photo ID
Examples include:
- Driver's License
- BC Identification Card
- Passport
- Status Card
- PR Card or Immigration Documents
Proof of Address
Provide one of the following:
- Lease or rental agreement
- Utility or phone bill
Proof of Income
Each adult must provide:
- Last 3 months of bank statements
- Pay stubs or EI / Assistance documents
For Dependents (Under 18)
Physical BC Services Card is required for each child.

- Food packages can be collected once every month. If you miss your scheduled pick-up day, please book another appointment.
- Please be aware that missing three appointments may result in your file being automatically closed.
- Bring Your Own Bags: Please bring reusable bags or boxes to carry your food packages.
- If you are unable to attend your scheduled appointment, please cancel it at least 24 hours in advance. This will allow you to reschedule your appointment.

To continue using our services, all recipients must update their registration every six months or whenever there are significant changes in their household.
When Updates Are Required: After six months have passed since your initial registration or last update.
- If your household information changes (e.g., new address, additional family members).
- You can update your account during your next food pickup appointment.
- Bring the same documents required for registration, including original, physical government-issued ID for adults.
If you are unable to pick up your food packages, you can authorize someone else to do so on your behalf.
Requirements for Third-Party Pick-Ups:
- Provide a dated, written note granting permission to the person picking up.
- The authorized person must bring:
- Your original ID or a photo of your ID.
- Their own original, physical ID.
